I cannot wait until potty training is over with and we have moved past the having to ask constantly if she has to go to the bathroom. Cleaning up accidents. Worrying that there is no potty around when we’re in the car somewhere. My four year old has been trained for 2 years and then some and she has a bladder like a camel (I guess it’s probably because she doesn’t drink much) and it is so nice not having to worry about her going to the bathroom. We make sure she goes before we leave the house and then she is good for like the next 4 hours or so sometimes.
We are right in the middle of training my 19 month old though and I just can’t wait for it to be over with. My older daughter was almost completely trained by this age, but I haven’t had the chance to work on it as much with my younger girl because I’m always running around like a chicken with my head cut off doing something for the older one. You can’t put a pull-up on this child because she’ll just forget all about using the potty and go in her pull-up. So I got her some of those gerber training pants that are like really thick underwear and when she goes in those she says “yucky” and knows that she should’ve gone on the potty. She’s doing pretty well, but it is not going as fast as I would like. I am just sick of buying/throwing out pull-ups, cleaning up messes and worrying if I leave the room for a minute if there is going to be a puddle on the floor when I get back.
If I consistently put her in the underwear I think it should go pretty quick because I started putting her on the potty at 9 months old to get her used to it. She knows how to use it and most of the time when she has to go, she just has to get better at paying attention to her body and getting there on time and we’ll be all set!
Hopefully soon we’ll be able to take the show on the road and take her out of the house for an hour or so wearing just her underwear. I can’t believe my baby is old enough to be doing this already! Time sure flies with the second kid! And when she is done, so am I! I’m never potty training another human again!
